Best wishes for 2022
Before I’m cracking on with stay in the now and looking forward, New Year is always that moment to reminisce over the past 12 months:
Where 2020 was an unmemorable black hole, uneventful, waiting and sitting through lockdowns, 2021 for me was all change and action. I spent blood, sweat and tears orchestrating the move from Amsterdam to Groningen. Okay, blood was maybe a bruise, but tears every time I missed out agaaain on a home and a lot of sweat packing and moving in the 30℃ heatwave we had in June.
Inbetween getting my old and new homes ready, I completed my second book collaboration. A true story about a hen who turned into a cock, to the surprise of everyone. More on Ada(m), Peter Jones and his inspiration for the book here:

In September I started art academy not sure what to expect. Two blocks in I can say I love it so far! The positive feedback and welcome has taken me by surprise, a confirmation that I’ve made the right decision. The numerous skills I’ve learned in this short period will already benefit me for the rest of my life.
Since November I’m also working part-time at an architectural bureau, with a great bunch of people.
In retrospect: a new life, a new city, still finding my feet, but a great year creatively.
Now I’m looking forward to an exciting rest of the academic year, the days getting longer again and generally being very productive on all fronts. I can kick it off with a third book illustration commission. I wish you all a happy, adventurous and healthy 2022. May corona die off and everyone else achieve their dreams!
A blurry lick from Ella and a wave from me,
